This is a plein air from my walk yesterday. I trudged though a foot of snow for about a mile to get to this view of the mountain. My house is actually at the foot of this set of hills across a creek from where I painted. The sun only occasionally hit the trees like this as the clouds rolled in an out, but it was really nice when it did. I knew it was time to stop when the sun breaks stopped coming by and my fingers stopped working.
"It's like comparing apples to oranges", the saying goes. This was a fun setup balancing the orange and apple. The Granny Smith apple had an interesting lopsided shape that makes it look like it is trying to throw its weight to keep the balance.
The wipe off canvas looks a lot better with these flowers on it. I like the complementary colors and the little color notes in various places. This mum (I think that is what it is) is fairly small and has a lot more white since it has opened up.
I am an artist living in the beautiful Northwest Cascades. It is exciting how the Internet is changing the world of art. You can visit my gallery anytime, even if you are not in the Seattle area!
